3 Capital Region Cities Make List of 15 Most Dangerous Places in Upstate NY

According to "F.B.I. data" three Capital Region cities are among the '15 Most Dangerous Places in Upstate New York". Can you take a guess as to which three made the list?

The good folks at NewYorkUpstate.com recently analyzed a bunch of "F.B.I. data" provided by ValuePenguin to compile a list of the "15 Most Dangerous Places in Upstate New York" and 3 Capital Region cities managed to make their way on to the list.

To be honest when you look at the list as a whole it is basically the most populated cities in Upstate New York. While they site all kinds of numbers and statistics and an "aggregated crime score" it all kinda just looks like a bunch of numbers to me.

Regardless three cities right here in the Capital Region made it onto the list:

Rensselaer County's Troy, NY comes in at #9 with a population of 49,974 and a crime score of 3,369.

Schenectady is just ahead of them at #8 on the list with a population of 65,902 and a crime score of 3,526.

Jumping a few spots ahead, Albany comes in at #6 with a population of 100,104 and a crime score of 3,594.

You can kind of see what I mean when I say that it's really just based on population. More people equals more crime. Just take a look at any of our local news channels on any given day it's full of police blotter and crime. I feel like feel good stories come few and far between around these parts.

On the up side according to this list the Capital Region is less dangerous than Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo. If you want to see the full list and statistics you can click HERE.
