Thatcher State Park's beautiful (and extremely expensive) new visitor center is now open to the public!

Earlier this week the brand new 8,240 square foot visitor center opened up at Thacher State Park which reportedly cost 3.8 million dollars to build. However, judging by pictures of the new facility and it's views, it would seem as though it was money well spent!

According to the TU the new visitors center sits atop the Helderberg Escarpment in Albany County just next to the trailhead and picnic area for the Indian Ladder Trail. While the centers main purpose is to "introduce visitors to the park's trails and to provide environmental education" there is no denying that it also offers some exceptionally breathtaking views of views of the Hudson Valley, Green Mountains, and the foothills of the Adirondacks.

Now we just need to get all this rain over with so we can get out and enjoy the new center, the park, and the trails!
