County Waste has partnered with us to honor those in our communities who are truly making a difference.

All throughout 2017, we will be recognizing one “hero” per month based on their inspirational feats, work helping their neighbors, and everyday passion.

This month we honor Carl Johnson Jr., a Corrections Officer in Rensselaer, NY. Carl's nominator, Lynda, says Carl is a proud father of twins who never asks for help, but is always the first to give it.

Carl has held many titles in his community -- Reserves Mechanic and Firefighter of the Year among them.

Because Carl has extensive knowledge in auto repair, he's always the first to offer help when a family member/friend is experiencing car troubles. Lynda also says that Carl and his family would always offer to give rides, cook meals, and even take care of her house while she underwent cancer treatments."Not once did he complain," Lynda told us. We want Carl to know how much he means to his community, now more than ever, as he battles cancer himself.

This month we honor you, Carl, thank you for being so selfless in your life and community. We wish the very best for you. Click here to see how you can nominate a hero for the month of February, and learn more about Carl from an interview he did with the Morning Show-
