Looks like the Capital Region is the new hot spot for film locations!

It sure seems like the Capital Region is becoming the new Mecca for film makers. Just yesterday we learned that Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams is in town shooting a new film at Albany International Airport and today the TU is reporting that Willet St. near Albany's Washington Park will be closed down starting at midnight tonight until about 4pm tomorrow  due to filming.

However, this closure is for an entirely different film being shot in the Capital Region. I couldn't find much info on this new flick being filmed in the area this week except that it is an Independent film and it is called "Love Thy Caper".

This is the second film in a week to pick the Capital Region to shoot in and joins a growing list of movies shot in and around the area in the last year and a half or so. Back in October actor James Franco was in town shooting his flick "The Pretenders", and around that same time Russell Sage College served as a back drop for a Lifetime Movie originally titled 'Derailed' but aired as "Off the Rails", and not too long before that Albany local Miles Joris-Peyrafitte chose to film his directorial debut "As You Are", that starred Charlie Heaton of 'Stranger Things', right here in his hometown and I have a feeling this is just the tip of the ice burg.

Of course quite a few other big name movies were filmed around these parts throughout the years but film makers seem to be coming in droves recently. Do you think the Capital Region could become the next Hollywood?
